Safety
Safety and community standards
Last updated August 14, 2026
No civic message is worth a confrontation. If a situation appears dangerous or urgent, move to safety and use the appropriate emergency or government channel.
Never confront or pursue
Do not follow, approach, block, touch, threaten, shame, or attempt to identify a driver, passenger, owner, or bystander.
Respect legal boundaries
Do not trespass or obstruct traffic. Photography, recording, publication, and surveillance laws vary by jurisdiction, property, context, and intended use. This site does not tell you whether a particular recording is lawful.
Protect identities
Do not collect or distribute plate numbers, faces, names, addresses, travel patterns, precise locations, or other details that could enable identification or harassment. A visible plate is not an invitation to create a personal dossier.
Avoid allegations
An image can be incomplete or misleading and does not establish intent, ownership, exemption status, timing, or legal liability. Address recurring policy conditions in aggregate and ask officials to review verified information.
Current product boundary
Show Your Plates does not accept reports, images, or tips. Do not attempt to submit them through unrelated channels. A future reporting feature is on hold until privacy, security, moderation, retention, appeal, correction, and takedown controls have passed legal and operational review.
